Credibility creates unbreakable bonds. It means people can rely on you, trust you enough to look up to you for making decisions. Nobody is perfect but not many of them admit it. Admitting imperfections is what makes you credible. Nothing brings people closer and helps in establishing that solid connection than showing each other their vulnerable sides.

Honesty is crucial to credibility, and it starts with you. Many of us have a hard time to be honest with our own selves. Knowing the right path is entirely different than walking on that path. Holding other people’s feelings in account and respecting them earns you respect in return and credibility.

Credibility requires experience

You do not deliver the message, you become the message. Credibility comes from communicating from experience. Your experience adds weight to your words, people can relate to authenticity that comes with it. Do you practice what you preach? Get out and do what you advise others to do, that is the only way you are going to connect with people at a deeper level. Do your words and actions align with each other? Credibility is not something you build once and you are done. You need to keep connecting with people which is only possible if you live what you communicate. It requires integrity and authenticity. Are you the same person behind the doors as you are in front of people? Your honesty to self and others determines your credibility.

People value and put their faith in people who have strong principles. Till people see you lead by examples in terms of loyalty, honesty and accountability. Till they don’t see the fire in your eyes and conviction in your words, you will not earn credibility.
People follow leaders when they smell the smoke of battle on them, and that is when they connect.
