Who cares whether your glass is half full or half empty? Can you not see you at least have a glass! Gratitude helps us focus on what we have than what we do not have. Once we achieve something that we longed for, we have a tendency of taking it for granted.
How many times do we find ourselves spiraling down the valley of negativity? Life happens and an insignificant looking pebble triggers the domino effect of despair. Before you comprehend as to what hit you, you are already on your way to never coming back. Writing down the things that you are grateful about on a regular basis produces better mental health by shifting one’s attention away from toxic emotions, such as resentment and envy. Our brain is an amazing machine and can do wonders but it can not dwell on negative when you are busy counting your blessings.
Gratitude’s Magnitude determines your Attitude
The intensity with which you feel the gratitude in your heart will determine the attitude you will have towards your life. It puts a rosy filter to whatever the life throws at you. No matter what comes your way, there is always a silver lining to it. Are you too caught up in life or can you take a pause, look at the whole picture and make the most of it?
Everybody is different and are at different levels of gratitude scale depending upon their past experiences. Some might not feel grateful about anything and has a negative perspective about everything. It is tough to feel a sliver of gratitude let alone an intense gratitude. Till you feel it from your heart, you can always start with your head. As time passes and you keep repeating the things you are grateful for mechanically, will eventually ignite the gratitude in your heart. Once it reaches to your heart, nothing can shake your identity. No situation will ever control you!
Gratitude turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity…it makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow. – Melody Beattie
